SANDHILL'S PAST & PRESENT

Our company is fundamentally rooted in the ideal of a clean environment. It was founded in 1998 in Fairbanks, Alaska, when Sandhill was awarded a grant from the Alaska Science and Technology Foundation to develop an innovative glass–fusing technology using 100% recycled glass. Sandhill undertook a two–year research project to create the tiles that we produce today. Not only are these artful, uniquely beautiful products made of 100% recycled glass (which otherwise would be destined for landfills), but each tile takes less than half the energy used to produce ceramic tiles, and less than one–fourth the energy used to produce a cast–glass tile.

In May 2002 Sandhill relocated its manufacturing facility to Boise, Idaho, to be closer to both raw materials and customers. The tile that Sandhill now offers for commercial and residential applications is available in 36 colors, offering you choices from light to dark and subtle to bright.

Sandhill recently received the EPA Evergreen Award for environmental excellence and leadership. We hope to continue to excel in these fields as we bring our signature care for the environment and high–quality products to you. After all, the intrigue of Sandhill's Glass Tiles comes not only from it's beauty, but from the history and hard work behind each stunning tile.
